A7. HUARAZ SHORT ADVENTURE ........... 3 days / 2 night

Day 1: Lima or Trujillo - Huaraz

Option 1: Trekking Wilkawain - Monterrey

This is a short walk (2 hours), perfect for acclimation, starting 20 minutes by car from Huaraz city from the Pre-Inca ruins of Wilkawain and Ichik Wilkawain (Small Wilkawain) towards Monterrey a famous place of sulfur hotsprings. The way is through beautiful eucalyptus forest. It includes: Private transfers and transportation, visit to the ruins, trekking guide, box lunch and water, entrances to the ruins and Monterrey Hotsprings and first aid kit.

Recommendations: Camera, trekking clothe and shoes, sunblock, repellent, sunglasses, bathing suit and towel.

Option 2: Canyoning

Descent with ropes of the Arzobispo Canyon , 5 rappels of 3- 15 meters each. This canyon is located 30 minutes south from Huaraz city in the Cordillera Negra ( Black Range ) and the duration of the descent depends on the number of people (from 3 to 5 hours). It includes: Private transportation and transfers, guide, guide assistant, technical gear, box lunch and water, wet suit and first aid kit.

Recommendations: Camera, sunblock, repellent, bathing suit, shoes for the water, dry clothes and shoes to change after the decent.

Option 3: Rock climbing in Chancos Walls

40 minutes from Huaraz city is located Chancos Village , also famous for its natural hotsprings. Very close to the village we find a wall of 30 meters long (1 peach) with different routes, grades from 5.9 to 5.11 (4 to 6b), sportive or top rope style. Day 2: Huaraz

Option 1: Trekking to Lake 69

Spectacular ascent to one of the most beautiful lakes in The White Range (Cordillera Blanca), an intense turquoise lake on the base of Chacraraju ( 6112 m .a.s.l.) and Pisco ( 5800 m .a.s.l.) peaks. During the trip, there will be an explanation about Campo Santo, where Yungay was, a city that disappeared by an avalanch caused by the earthquake in 1970. Then you can enjoy Llanganuco Valley , surrounded by Huandoy, Huascaran, Chacraraju, Chopicalqui, Yanapacha and Pisco Peaks , where you can appreciate its immense turquoise lagoons. From Huaraz city takes 2 hours to arrive to Cebollapampa Valley , the start point of the trek. The trail takes us through a fascinating landscape of rivers, waterfalls and mountains. Option 2: Horse back riding in the Black Range

3 to 4 hours riding to a point view in the Black Range with an incredible glimpse of the White Range . The start point is a village called Yungar, 20 minutes from Huaraz city to the north of the Valley. Departure at 10:00 a.m. It includes: Private transportation and transfer, guide, assistant, box lunch and first aid kit.

Day 3: Huaraz

Option 1: Ascent to Pastoruri (5200 masl) with possibility of skiing

At 7.00 AM departure from Huaraz towards south of the Callejón de Huaylas. About 2 hours we find Pastoruri Glacier, the most accessible of the White Range . From the car to the summit takes about 2 hours to arrive. If you rent skies there is the possibility to ski down, depending on the glacier conditions. Then you go back to the park place where the transportation is waiting to take you back to Huaraz city. On the way down there is a stop to appreciate and take pictures of the Puya de Raimondi, the biggest flower of the world. It includes: Private transportation and transfers, guide, technical gear, box lunch, water and first aid kit. It does not include: Ski rental (US$ 28 skies and boots).

Option 2: Ice climbing in Pastoruri Glaciar

At 7:00 AM departure from Huaraz towards south of the Callejón de Huaylas. About 2 hours we find Pastoruri Glacier, the most accessible of the White Range . From the car to the summit takes about 30 minutes to arrive to the glacier, where there are 30 meter-ice walls. It is also possible to walk a bit inside the glacier to find other some nice walls. Then you put the gear on and the guide will explain some techniques to climb up. After 4 or 5 hours of climbing you go back to the parking place where the transportation is waiting to take you back to Huaraz city. On the way down there is a stop to appreciate and take pictures of the Puya de Raimondi, the biggest flower of the world.
